Dress Code for Capitol Day 2010

Although, we know most students take pride in their appearance and would dress professionally to visit our state capitol, we would like to reiterate the dress code of business professional required.

  • Slacks or knee length or longer skirts
  • Button down dress shirt and tie for men, jacket optional
  • Blouse or professional sweater for women
  • No t-shirts or shirts with pictures on them
  • No shorts or mini skirts
  • No jeans/denim
  • No tennis shoes/sneakers, sandals/flip-flops, or open toed shoes. We will be on guided walking tours so wear comfortable shoes.
  • No midriff baring tops
  • No low rise pants that show undergarments
  • No sleeveless/strapless tops.
  • The facilities are usually cool so you might want to bring/wear a blazer or sweater.

The dress code is a reference. Students should remember that they are representing themselves as future nurses and professionals. Attire that could be worn to an interview would be most appropriate.

Getting Back to the Basics

“As government involvement in regulation of health professionals and health care delivery grows, it is imperative that nurses and nursing students become more politically aware and active. A professional today must be aware of legislative and regulatory activities in nursing and be ready to support or oppose them in an informed manner. It is the purpose of this committee to educate the student to better understand the legislative and political process and how it affects nursing and health care.”

                                                                                               -NSNA 2009-2010

Legislative Director Goals:

  • Increase awareness of legislative activity through education.
  • The main focus of this chapter will be on activity that will not only directly affect the staff of health care but also the patients.
  • o This will include but is not limited to updates and understanding of the Health Care Reform Bill through COSR and the Newsletter
  • SNA-SC will strive to prepare a resolution in regards to the growing elderly population, short staffing, and limited facility space.

Health Care Reform:

I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to look over some pressing Health Care Reform Bill information. I know the bill can be over whelming and we are hearing many mixed messages about what is going on. I felt this information on the following website would allow everyone to understand the information a lot easier.
